Wards Pool (grid reference SO 802 542) is just over a mile from the western boundary of Worcester, at the end of a farm track off the A44. From Worcester, pass through Crown East, then turn left onto a farm track entrance just before reaching Laylocks Garden Centre, postcode WR6 5LP. The entrance is marked by a red sign for West Worcester Football Club, who use the adjacent field. The gate is locked and can be opened using the combination number on the Wards membership card. Close and lock the gate, then follow the farm track alongside the spinney and park by the fir trees near the pool.
It is a well established quarter acre lake with around 16 pegs, which is spring fed, surrounded by trees and edged with reeds and lilies. It is stocked with carp (to well over 10lb), along with plenty of roach, rudd and perch together with the occasional bream (to 9lb) and tench.
Additional fish stocking takes place on Wards Pool when club funds allow, as reported in the News section:
- 100 chub and 50 skimmer bream were stocked during April 2016.
- 100 common and mirror carp were stocked during March 2023.
- 100 tench (8-10 inch) stocked on 31st January 2025.
- 100 tench (8-10 inch) stocked on 30th January 2026.
This is a members only water, which is occasionally used for club matches on a Sunday (see full fixture list on the matches tab above for details). Please note that individual fishing is not allowed on match day until after the match has finished – check fixture list for dates.
